The Cevallos Bridge sidewalk and deck edge concrete placements have completed on the north and south sides. North of the UPRR Bridge the paseos are being placed this month and the low-water crossing pedestrian bridge just south of S Alamo bridge will complete the paseo in this area and the completed trails on the east and west sides of the channel together. The paseo placements from the UPRR Bridge and up at the shade structure at Cevallos are starting this month right behind them from the limestone walls. Landscape irrigation piping and electrical conduit and will continue along these completed sections for the next month. The paseo concrete placements and light pole bases between Cevallos and I-35 are complete up to the Cevallos Bridge. North of UPRR bridge the natural aquatic features are 75% complete. The installation of the boulders for the rock vanes and cobble for the riffle portions will be starting north of Cevallos and up to UPRR’s bridge following the limestone retaining wall completion. The natural aquatic features spaced along the SPC channel from Cevallos south to the end of SPC at I-35 are complete for now and will be detailed just prior to topsoil and native hydroseeding of the slopes. This month they will shift to some smaller walls at a trail connection to Piedras Negras De Noche and to finish out the main channel wall up to Cevallos. With this access the area has been mass graded and our limestone retaining wall subcontractor crews have installed 75% of the main channel walls between Cevallos and the UP Railroad trestle. The property agreements wrapped up in February for the west side of the channel north of Cevallos to the UPRR Bridge. The SDJV and subcontractor team has been hoping around within Phase 3 quite a bit over the last quarter as areas open up for work to begin. Still lots of cleanup and finishing touches for the SDJV and subcontractor team to wrap up, but this area has changed significantly from the concrete channel of a few years ago. The deck structure that overlooks the creek on the south end of Culvert Park is being installed and will be completed by the end of April as well. Under this large shaded gathering area the decorative paver bands and the artificial turf plaza have also been completed. The 60’x80’ shade structure columns and artist designed fabric shade sails have been installed. The most notable changes to this phase have been to the focal point of Phase 2 at the Culvert Park area just north of Camp Street. Within the next month it will be fully operational and raised once more to start ponding the channel all the way back to Guadalupe Street. ![]() With permanent power the Alamo Crest Gate, the largest flood control gate for the SPC project, is being tested and commissioned now. The restrooms have all of the plumbing fixtures installed and fully functional and the finished cedar ceiling will be completed in April. The native shrubs, perennials and groundcover plantings will be installed over the next couple of months once the irrigation pumps are commissioned and the channel water is impounded at the Alamo crest gate.Īt the new Alamo Gatehouse and Restrooms the exteriors are now finished and the trellis lighting is starting to go in. The new native trees, many that are 6-8” caliper and over 20’ tall, have now been planted throughout the phase as well as the placement of topsoil and planter mix for the seeded and planted areas. This phase now has permanent power and the street and pedestrian light fixtures are going in and the paseos between Guadalupe and S Alamo street will be fully lit by the end of April. It will be opened in the coming months with the completion of this phase.Īlong the Phase 2 portion of the creek the last of the concrete paseos and asphalt paving was completed in March. Camp Street is the last remaining closure and is the main access for the completion of the Phase 2 construction work. ![]() All lanes of South Alamo were opened permanently at the end of January 2023 and Guadalupe Street was reopened the end of March. This phase is quickly coming to a close and the finishing touches are going in now.Īll work has been completed on both Guadalupe Street and S Alamo Street’s drive lanes. ![]() Phase 1.2 and 1.3 from Houston Street to Cesar Chavez are now open to the public!
